“Flying Pixels from Flying Man Project”/QTV.AD#

衛星ローカルテレビチャンネルビデオ及びバスビデオプロジェクト、(ダッカ市、クルナ市)

Satellite Local Television Channel video & bus video project), Dhaka and Khulna City/On going project, 2006~

This is an ongoing project (2006~) in Dhaka and Khulna city, telecasting video clips on a local, privately owned satellite television channel (KV) in Khulna City. This station mostly broadcasts mind-numbing Bangladeshi & Indian film & film music.

The goal of this video is to break the monotony of the regular TV-watching experience, changing how the typical sluggish & lethargic TV viewer reacts watching a sequence of random and unexpected moving images. Videos are very short in duration, running from 7 seconds to 35 seconds. These videos are abruptly telecasted in breaks in between the film and/or music.

These series of videos suggest the relationship between people’s mechanic and busy life in every moment. These videos (QTVAD) seem like they are advertising something, yet they do not mention any name of product or brand, nor do they reveal information or any contacts.‘BV Project’ is shown inside the crowed intercity bus service. The concept is how passengers in a rush react watching lively & tranquil videos in exhausted time.


これは、現在行っているプロジェクトで、日本の色々なところで収録したものをバングラデシュ現地のチャンネル(例えば、ダッカ市内及びクルナ市内ローカルチャンネル)でテレビ番組の間に広告として放映され、日本を紹介することを目標としています。これは、非常に短い時間で(7秒から35秒)日本の文化や習慣の面白いところをバングラデシュの皆様に紹介したいと思います。このBVプロジェクトは、日本人の生活スタイルから町などの風景まで重要な情報を皆様に提供したいと考えています。


Ground f_ (magnetic frame)

This video documented from UEFA football match. The football is always inside the monitor frame. However, whenever the players kick off or play the ball, it will never go outside the boundary of the television frame. Concept of this “monitor-frame as boundary video” has a kind of magnetic power as if the ball will stay stuck inside the TV monitor.

This is a model of a Court building. A vacuum cleaner hose runs through the top of the dome. The entire body of the building will lightly shake vacuum cleaner is turned on.
This work reflects the state of misuse of rules and law. The vacuum cleaner is used here as a rhetorical activity to be technical. Green ‘layapa’ oil painting is rendered on the half-body of the building. Medical bandage and Japanese fantasy manga magazine is used on the dome to evoke an exotic and chaotic feeling of the reality of high court society.

Installation; a Series of objects, paintings and videos

Vol. 1 & 2, Setagaya Art Foundation & Setagaya Art Museum

This installation is a Series of objects, paintings and videos. It is based on socio-politics and myths. There are balls with text on the floor to let the visitors play in the gallery, neck of trash bag, ladder to go to 7th heaven, green flower to come closer to nature, gymnastic ring hanged on very low position with medical bandage and it is closed to floor to hang the ring easily. The wooden flag with half of a black circle on the edge of it; Prime numbers, a stuffed boot, boxing ring, prodigal son, model and masks of the ‘hall of famers’, object ‘blackish & greenish’ taken from flag image, green text (‘layer report BC/ AD’) projected on a green board; the videos and paintings all symbolize auspicious aspects of manifestation in elite-political society. These concepts are taken from the editorial section of a daily newspaper.

The visual atmosphere changes from morning to night in this installation. Sculptures with all objects, paintings, text and entire space gradually turn into different images against red light while these are very different in daytime. Red light basically corresponds all painting images. This work implies how female gender is treated in various ways in many places in the world. Behavior with or feeling for Mother, sister or girl friend defers from place to place. They are treated with very different feelings in my country.

"Who’s Who"(Hoping for lost ID)-Morally or Spiritually

Interactive work/performance held in various area


I was looking for my ancestors in hub spots in UK, Singapore, Japan and UAE.

In order to locate people of my own ancestry, I dispensed leaflets with text while wearing a white dress with the same text on it. I brought my bag full of evidence, photo, history and the probable route of how our many forefathers migrated in this region by ship since the beginning of twentieth century. I also had a mirror with some text on it to show mirror through text to local people whether they can recognize their identity through question written on mirror. It is also to see my own face and not to forget my facial identity too. I had a video camera to film the situation.

I am like a spiritual forefather re-discovering my past generations in places, where people from Bangladesh or India first started to migrate massively in the 20th century. They entirely submerged themselves into different society. Their 3rd or 4th generation is about to forget their ancestors.


I wore white dress with text, leaflet with text, mirror, video camera, bag full of evidence, map, photo, marked & shaped mask with topping and shoe.
